Gears Of War 2: Storydetails, Box Art, komplette Achievement-Liste!
Gut, “Details” mag ein wenig übertrieben sein für das, was Rod Fergusson in seinem Interview mit den Kollegen von Gamasutra durchsickern ließ. Fergusson ist seines Zeichens “senior producer” für die Franchise und mitverantwortlich für die Kontinuität im GoW-Universum. So gab er bekannt, man sei bei Epic Games bereit für gewisse “Risiken” beim Storytelling des im November anstehenden Sequels. Wir erinnern uns: Teil 1 glänzte in vielen Bereichen, aber bekanntermaßen nicht gerade mit einer fesselnden Geschichte. Man sei damals noch nicht selbstsicher genug gewesen, so Fergusson, und so hätte man sich gegen einige offen stehende Möglichkeiten entschieden, um sich voll und ganz auf das Gameplay zu konzentrieren. Doch mit dem immensen Erfolg des Spiels im Rücken war man bei Epic offenbar gewillt, den zweiten Teil deutlich storylastiger zu gestalten, und allein diese kleine Verkündung lässt bereits aufhorchen. Ob die Geschichte von Gears Of War 2 nun mit kontroversen Wendungen und vielleicht sogar einer gewissen moralischen Mehrdimensionalität aufwarten kann, ist natürlich nur wilde Spekulation. Wir vermuten, dass die Locust die ganze Zeit über nur Einbildung waren, und Marcus und Dom in Wirklichkeit ein und dieselbe Person sind, die in den Träumen eines schizophrenen Kriegsveteranen eine kryptische Metapher über die menschliche Natur, den Fluch der Technokratie und den Wahnsinn des Krieges auf ewig immer wieder neu durchleben muss.
